This week on Dezeen<\/a>, president Donald Trump<\/a> revealed plans to add a neoclassical ballroom to the White House<\/a> in Washington DC.<\/span><\/p>\n

Trump commissioned architecture firm McCrery Architects to design the neoclassical ballroom, which will be built on the side of the East Wing<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Neom was reported to be planning widespread redundancies<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

In Saudi Arabia, mega project Neom is reportedly planning widespread staff redundancies and relocations<\/a> as part of a wide-ranging strategic review.<\/p>\n

According to a report by news website Semafor<\/a>, Neom is “considering significantly cutting its workforce” with 1,000 employees planned to be made redundant and another 1,000 set to be relocated.<\/p>\n

Also in architecture news, car brand Tesla unveiled a “classic American diner” in Los Angeles<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Designed by architecture studio\u00a0Stantec<\/a>, the “retro-futuristic” eatery serves meals in Cybertruck<\/a> packaging and has parking reserved for electric vehicles<\/a>\u00a0only.<\/p>\n

The Eames Institute revealed its plans for a design museum<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Elsewhere in the US, the Eames Institute announced plans<\/a> to create a design museum within a former 1960s warehouse in California.<\/p>\n

Set to be developed by architecture studios Herzog & de Meuron<\/a> and EHDD, the “world-class art and design museum” will occupy a concrete building designed by modernist architect John Savage Bolles, which was most recently owned by Birkenstock.<\/p>\n
