This week on Dezeen<\/a>, we reported on\u00a0architecture’s graduating class of 2025, who are set to face the toughest job market in recent decades<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

With the UK experiencing its most competitive job market in 30 years, graduates are finding it even harder to land jobs after university \u2013 with a reported 140 applications for every graduate vacancy.<\/p>\n

We also published an opinion piece by Sana Tabassum<\/a> on the topic, which explores the need for change at all levels to improve career prospects for architecture graduates.<\/p>\n

Foster + Partners renovated the Carrington Training Complex for Manchester United<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

In other architecture news, Foster + Partners completed its renovation of the Carrington Training Complex for UK football team Manchester United<\/a>, which included the addition of glazed facades to brighten the interior.<\/p>\n

This week also saw sportswear brand Puma unveil a kit for English football team Manchester City<\/a>, featuring an all-over raindrop graphic that nods to the city’s rainy weather.<\/p>\n

Robert Adam discussed Donald Trump’s White House ballroom extension<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

We also spoke with leading classical architect Robert Adam about plans set by US president Donald Trump’s to update and extend the White House ballroom<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The plans, which have been designed by James McCrery, were revealed last month and are believed by Adam to be informed by Gilded Age classicism.<\/p>\n

GM unveiled a space-age-style EV concept car<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

In design news, the Chinese division of General Motors unveiled its Buick Electra Orbit concept car<\/a>, which nods to the 20th-century-space-age.<\/p>\n

The concept was designed with the latest electric vehicle technologies and nods to spacecraft, jet aeroplanes and Buick concepts from the 1950s to give the car a retro feel.<\/p>\n

A Melbourne home extension was among this week’s most popular stories<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Popular projects this week included an Arts and Crafts-style brick extension to a Melbourne home<\/a>, a home in Kent extended with a light-filled garden pavilion<\/a> and a concrete housing block finished with colourful details in Switzerland<\/a>.<\/p>\n
