This week on Dezeen, we published photos of architecture studio Populous’ stadium for NFL team Buffalo Bills<\/a> in Buffalo, New York, which will feature “the world’s largest snowmelt system”.<\/span><\/p>\n

The stadium, which will be located in the Bills’ hometown of Buffalo<\/a>, will have a canopy that’s heated to melt snow and engineered to amplify the crowd sounds in the stadium.<\/p>\n

\"Meatball<\/a>
Gustaf Westman designs IKEA plate to serve meatballs “like they’re sitting on little thrones”<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Also this week, Swedish designer Gustaf Westman showcased his elongated porcelain plate<\/a> with a central indentation designed to hold a row of meatballs, produced by furniture retailer IKEA.<\/p>\n

According to the company, it’s the “first-ever dedicated plate” for its meatballs. The turquoise plate is also the first piece from Westman’s collaboration with IKEA to be unveiled, with the full collection launching on 9 September.<\/p>\n

Heatherwick Studio set to redevelop city block in historic centre of Prague<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

UK firm Heatherwick Studio unveiled designs for its redevelopment of a city block in Prague<\/a>. Called Savarin, the development will be located in the historic city centre.<\/p>\n

It will feature contemporary additions to the enclosed centre of the block, which borders the Wenceslas Square boulevard, while several of the external buildings will be renovated.<\/p>\n

Danish studio BIG saw progress on two major US projects this week. It unveiled renders of its “built-from-scratch” city Telosa<\/a>, which will be located in the desert and feature buildings including a\u00a0wooden “mobility hub” and a “sports village” hosted in an outstretched, silver building.<\/p>\n

The studio also received approval from the Los Angeles City Council<\/a> for its four-building 670 Mesquit complex, which will contain an elementary school and housing, among other programming.<\/p>\n

Video reveals hoverbike that lets users fly “like a superhero”<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

In design news, American transportation firm Volonaut has released test footage of its Airbike.<\/a> The personal aircraft, which looks like a motorbike, uses jet engines to hover and glide through the air at speeds of up to 102 kilometres per hour.<\/p>\n

According to the brand, it can only remain airborne for up to 10 minutes at a time. Its founder said using the bike “feels like instantly becoming a superhero.”<\/p>\n

Stefano Boeri Architetti completes latest Vertical Forest skyscraper in Utrecht<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The latest Vertical Forest design by Italian architect Stefano Boeri was completed in Utrecht<\/a>, the Netherlands.<\/p>\n

Called Wonderwoods, it comprises a 104-metre-tall mixed-use<\/a> tower wrapped by balconies supporting hundreds of trees and thousands of plants.<\/p>\n
