href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/foster-partners\/\">Foster + Partners<\/a> and developer Silverstein Properties have released renderings of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/two-world-trade-center\/\">Two World Trade Center<\/a> skyscraper in New York, which will complete the development and contain headquarters for finance company American Express.<span id=\"more-2300629\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Following <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/2022\/02\/16\/two-world-trade-center-leaked-images-foster-partners\/\">a design that was leaked in 2022<\/a>, new images show a stepped <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/supertall-skyscrapers\/\">supertall skyscraper<\/a> that will reach 1,226 feet (373 metres) at 55 peppered along the tower&#8217;s body, while images show a triple-height lobby.<\/p>\n<p>Located across from\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/2016\/08\/29\/santiago-calatrava-oculus-world-trade-center-transportation-hub-new-york-photographs-hufton-crow\/\">Santiago Calatrava&#8217;s ribbed Oculus train station<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/2023\/09\/14\/perelman-performing-arts-center-world-trade-center-rex\/\">next to the Perelman Center by Rex<\/a>, Two World Trade has been under id=\"caption-attachment-2300863\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">It features a stepped design<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In 2020, following <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/2020\/01\/21\/foster-partners-two-world-trade-center-design-to-replace-bigs-stacked-tower\/\">a back-and-forth between development partners<\/a>, Foster + Partners replaced BIG as the architect of the skyscraper.<\/p>\n<p>It will span more than nearly two million square feet (185,806 square metres), with the capacity to host 10,000 workers and be singularly \u00a0&#8220;fully-electric, energy-efficient systems&#8221; in the pursuit of LEED certification.<\/p>\n<p>Construction is expected to begin in spring 2026 and be completed in 2031.<\/p>\n<figure href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/world-trade-center\/\">World Trade Center development<\/a>, which includes the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/2025\/01\/17\/9-11-memorial-handel-architects-21st-century-architecture\/\">9\/11 Memorial and Museum<\/a>, One, Two, Three, and Four World Trade, the Oculus and the Perelman Arts Center.<\/p>\n<p>Two World Trade Center will be located at the corner of the site, and currently contains a PATH subway entrance and a plaza.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/2023\/09\/14\/perelman-performing-arts-center-world-trade-center-rex\/\">The Perelman Performing Arts Center was completed in 2023<\/a>, while Santiago Calatrava also completed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/2022\/12\/08\/santiago-calatrava-church-st-nicholas-greek-orthodox-world-trade-center\/\">a nearby church to replace a 19th-century church that was
